Bogdan Zagribelny-

Born in Taraz, Kazakhstan, Bogdan is 12 years old and already in 8th grade. He started to draw when he was 1½ years old and has been guided by his mother, a prominent arts educator of Central Asia. His father is a journalist and interpreter.

 

Bogdan is winner of UNESCO art competitions in 2004, 2006 and 2007. He was the Kazakhstan Arts Olympiad winner and represented his country at the 2007 World Children’s Festival. He also participates in intellectual competitions and likes chemistry, physics and history. His hobbies include reading encyclopedias and playing strategies games on his computer. Bogdan is fond of classic music. He likes to play Bach's Prelude & Fuge in D-minor on his guitar.

 

With his friends he organizes two concerts each year under the guidance of their music teacher. Bogdan enjoys writing as well and has been published in Kazakhstan’s children newspaper "Druzhnye Rebjata" and "Journalist" - a magazine in Moscow. Recently he participated in a leadership program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy and received a diploma.
