Desmond Carr Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil Saudi Arabia Inc, has been resident in Riyadh since July 2001.


In addition to ExxonMobil Joint Venture business responsibilities, Mr. Carr stewards an active corporate citizenship program which includes support for The King Abdul'Aziz and His Companions Foundation for the Gifted, The Disabled Children's Association, The Prince Salman Disability Research Center, Friends of Saudi Arabia, and the joint Saudi-U.S. Jurash archeological project. Mr. Carr has 38 years of international experience maturing capital projects requiring alignment of interests of investors, governments, international finance agencies and NGOs. He joined Esso Exploration & Production UK in 1981. He held positions of increasing responsibility within the company, including serving as Manager, Development Planning and Department Head, Upstream Planning for Esso Exploration & Production UK, and Managing Director of Esso Exploration & Production Nigeria.

Before coming to Riyadh he spent nearly 5 years in Lagos stewarding the Corporation's deepwater exploration ventures.

 

 

 Prior to joining Esso, Mr. Carr worked for the World Bank as a Ministerial Advisor in Cairo, Egypt and was also a partner in a Rome-based engineering firm with Middle East project responsibilities that included Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Yemen and the UAE. Mr.

 

Carr holds a First Class Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Surrey and a Master of Science degree from Imperial College.
