General (retired) T. Michael Moseley,
USAF 18th Chief of Staff
In 2008, General Moseley completed a distinguished 38+ year military career as the 18th Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force. In that capacity he served as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipage of over 700,000 Active-Duty, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and Civilian personnel serving in the United States, overseas and those forces deployed worldwide in a variety of combat locations. In this role, General Moseley also served as the Nation’s senior Airman and provided primary military advice and counsel to the President and National Security Council on operational, planning and programming issues relative to global air, space and cyberspace operations.
General Moseley commanded combat units at all levels from fighter squadron and fighter group to composite wing and numbered Air Force through joint and combined, theater Air Component. As commander of U.S. Central Command Air Forces he was responsible for the planning and execution of combat air/space operations against hostile Taliban and Al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan and along the Horn of Africa (Operation Enduring Freedom) and against hostile Iraqi forces (Operation Northern Watch, Operation Southern Watch and Operation Iraqi Freedom).
Her Majesty, the Queen of England, has named General Moseley a Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. The President of France has also awarded him France’s highest award – naming him a Commander in the Legion of Honor. He has been awarded the King Abdulaziz Excellence Medal by His Royal Highness, the King of Saudi Arabia. This is the Kingdom’s highest award. He’s also been awarded the Emirate’s Military Medal (1st Class) by the President of the United Arab Emirates. General Moseley has also received equally prestigious decorations by Singapore and Brazil. He was personally awarded two Defense Distinguished Service Medals by the Secretary of Defense for his combat leadership in the Middle East against hostile forces and upon retirement he was also awarded a third Air Force Distinguished Medal and Distinguished Service Medals from the Department of the Army, Department of the Navy and from the Coast Guard/Department of Homeland Security.
General Moseley currently holds the position of Perot Distinguished Fellow with the EastWest Institute. He is Chairman of Gulf Alliance (a Hillwood Company). He also is serving as Director on a variety of boards, consulting on global security matters and is active in lecturing on leadership and the international security environment.
