Michael Andrew is Chairman, KPMG International, a Big Four public accounting firm that provides audit, tax and advisory services.  KPMG International member firms have 138,000 professionals in 150 countries.  Based in Hong Kong, Michael is the first global chairman of a Big Four accounting firm to be based in the Asia Pacific region.  Before becoming global chairman, Michael was Chairman of KPMG Asia Pacific and Chairman of KPMG in Australia from 2007 to 2011.  In these roles he has also been a member of KPMG International’s Board and Global Executive Team.


Previously, he served six years as Managing Partner of KPMG Australia's Melbourne office and was Deputy Chair of KPMG Australia from 2001 – 2007. He was Managing Partner of KPMG Australia's Tax Practice from 1997 to 2001. Michael has been actively engaged in shaping the future direction of KPMG’s member firm network, having been a member of the Global Board and Global Council since 2007. He was involved in the development of KPMG's Global Strategy and was also a member of the Global Governance Review in 2008. He was also a member of Compensation and Nominations Committee, the Risk and Compliance Committee in 2009-10 and chaired the Governance Committee of the Board.


Michael has always been actively involved in the market, having been the Global Lead Partner for large multinational clients including BHP Billiton, the National Australia Bank, AMP Limited and Leighton Holdings. 
Michael is a graduate of Melbourne University and completed a combined Law and Commerce degree. He is a qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He worked for several years in industry at Orica before joining KPMG.


Michael is extensively involved in business and the community. He is a member of the International Advisory Board for Moscow International Financial Center.  He is a former member of the Business Council of Australia and Chair of its Education, Skills, Innovation and Industry Taskforce. He was Chair of the Dowd Foundation and Business Working with Education Foundation and is a former council member of the Australian Business Arts Foundation. Michael was a former Treasurer of the Melbourne Cricket Club and committee member of the Melbourne Racing Club as well as Board Member of Jawun Indigenous Corporate Partnerships.
