Stephen Kennedy Smith, Member of the Board, Rapid Pharmaceutical and Owl Biomedical
Stephen Smith is the son of Stephen Smith and Jean Kennedy Smith. Stephen’s father worked on the White House staff of President Kennedy, and managed the political campaigns and business affairs of the Kennedy family. Jean Kennedy Smith is the sister of President Kennedy and served as US ambassador to Ireland under President Clinton.
Stephen Kennedy Smith received his BA from Harvard University, his J.D. from Columbia University, and his MA Ed from Harvard University School of Education. He served as Deputy campaign manager for Senator Edward Kennedy during his Presidential and Senatorial campaigns. , Mr. Smith also served on the staff of the Senate Judiciary and Foreign Relations Committees. After leaving the Senate, Mr. Smith taught in the program on negotiation at Harvard University Law School. During that time, he also served as a consultant at Conflict Management Group a nonprofit associated with Harvard Law School. He worked with clients including the Organization of African Unity, the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the parties in the Irish Peace process. Mr. Smith is a three-time recipient of the Danforth award for excellence in teaching at Harvard University and is also the winner of the Lyndehurst Foundation prize for social and artistic achievement. He has delivered keynote presentations at the annual conferences of the Family Firm Institute and the Family Office Exchange – the two major family business organizations.
For the past twenty years Mr. Smith has been involved with the Joseph P Kennedy Enterprises, The Kennedy family investment office, and continues to serve on the Kennedy family financial board. He has also served on the board of the John F Kennedy Library, the Robert F Kennedy Memorial, Citizens Energy, and the Northeastern University School of Public Policy, and INCAE business school Mr. Smith is a partner and advisory board member in a number of medical and green technology business including, Em-link, which develops , designs and manages innovative sustainable technology , The Marwood Group , a healthcare-focused strategic advisory and financial services firm, Rapid Pharmaceutical, and Owl biomedical
